Lagos State Government has said that the disbursement of N6.25billion out of the N25 billion, Employment Trust Fund (ETF) to beneficiaries would commence in September, 2016. According to the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund website, the initiative is the brainchild of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. It was created to bridge the employment gap in Lagos State and serve as an instrument to galvanise the creative and innovative energies of all Lagosians.
In an event held at Adeyemi Bero auditorium in Lagos, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti from Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment said, “The disbursement of the fund will commence in September this year. The reason for the delay is for the board to finalize the process for accessing the funds.” According to him “The fund is to spur the beneficiaries, engender the development of entrepreneurial spirit among the youths and residents to tackle the problem of unemployment.
