A non-governmental organisation, La Roche Leadership Foundation, has refurbished St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebute Metta, Lagos.
According to the foundation’s administrator, Mrs. Marina Osoba, the gesture is to assist the government in the provision of free and compulsory education in the state.
She said, “I believe that if we make a statement with this school, we will be able to get the private sector to come on board to support schools, knowing that private organisations are the employers who will be the final beneficiaries of the graduates.”
Osoba noted that the foundation decided to carry out the project after its NEEDS assessment survey showed that the school facilities were in a state of disrepair.
She said though the school did not have sufficient and befitting facilities, the process of turning them around would be in phases.
Osoba added, “Developing facilities in primary school in the state will improve the nation’s human resources, thus supporting the leaders of tomorrow. This project is a demonstration of how La Roche Foundation is dedicated to the enhancement of education in the lives of the children who are the future of tomorrow.”
