As parts of efforts to make life meaningful for residents, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 29, has started a free medical service to residents of Amikanle community in the Alagbado area of Lagos State.
Associate Provincial Pastor, Bola Arawole, said that the gesture became necessary in order to make life quite enjoyable for people. Arawole said, “The Bible says in Matthew 5:13 that we are the salt of the earth and as such, we are mandated to preserve the world, to make life meaningful to our neighbours by helping them.”
Arawole, who said the church spent about N350,000 on the projects, added that Corporate Social Responsibility was not meant for the government alone. Commissioning the borehole project, Provincial Pastor, Matthew Oyesola, said that the church was complimenting the efforts of the government. Oyesola added, “RCCG is not spreading the gospel alone but embarking on CSR projects to compliment government’s efforts in line with the vision of our General Overseer,”
A 73-year-old resident farmer, Mr. Raphael Akinwande, lauded the initiative of the church, describing it as a welcome development.
Akinwande said, “The last time I went for medical check was four years ago in Abeokuta.”
