Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun on Monday sworn-in Justice Oyebola Ojo, as the new Chief Judge of the state. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Justice Oyebola Ojo becomes the first female chief judge since the state was created in 1991. She replaced Justice Olaniyi Ojo, who retired on Nov. 19, 2012.
Gov. Aregbesola said that Justice Oyebola Ojo was appointed due to her track record, resilience and courage in the discharge of her duties. The governor urged her to continue to uphold the principle of the rule of law. He reiterated that the rule of law was the most important ingredient in the enthronement of justice in any society.
The new chief judge commended the state government for the opportunity given to her to serve. Ojo pledged to uphold justice and truth in the discharge of her duties. She added that she would use her position to foster unity and peace in the state judiciary.
