The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria and Etisalat Nigeria have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would lead to the commencement of Masters of Science (M.Sc) degree, Telecommunications Engineering, in ABU, the first in any Nigerian University.
The signing ceremony that took place at the ABU’s Assembly Hall indicates that the MoU is a multi-lateral agreement between ABU, Etisalat Nigeria, Plymouth University, UK and Huawei Telecommunications Ltd.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of ABU, Professor Abdullahi Mustapha, described the development as monumental achievement for the university, north and Nigeria in general. “While I express our deepest gratitude to Etisalat Nigeria for the huge financial investment and Plymouth University for its intellectual magnanimity, let me pledge that ABU would fully and aptly redeem its parts in this academic collaboration,” Professor Mustapha said.
The Etisalat team, led by Mr. Hakeem Bello-Osagie and Mr. Steven Evans, Etisalat’s chairman and Chief Executive Officer, respectively, said the collaboration with ABU is part of Etisalat’s corporate responsibility to all Nigerians.
