Nigeria in Quest for Local E-Content for United Nations World Summit Award

WSAAs preparations continues across the globe for the 2013 edition of the United Nation World Summit Award, Nigeria is currently in quest for relevant local electronic content (e-content) that can win the country the award. Following the UN WSA database nominations opening, Nigeria’s nominations and national pre-Selection contest has commenced from April 18th to June 30th 2013 as contestants from the 6 geo-political zones are expected to submit their e-content innovation projects for their Nigeria’s pre-selection of 8 best within this period.

According to the national expert coordinator for Nigeria Mr. Amos Emmanuel at a press conference in Lagos to flag off the 2013 UN WSA, the country is shopping for local e-content products from eight categories with global relevance. The categories he listed include e-Government & Open Data, e-Health & Environment, e-Learning & Science, e-Entertainment & Games, e-Culture & Tourism, e-Media & Journalism, e-Business & Commerce and e-Inclusion & Empowerment. Emmanuel who is also the 1st Vice-President, Information Technology (Industry) Association of Nigeria, ITAN and Chief Software Architect/CEO, Programos Software Group, explained that the WSA is a global activity to select and promote the world’s best e-Content and most innovative ICT applications.
